Article by Bob Evans on the Bayworth Coal Mining Debacle, an extended version of the talk given to Radley History Club on 13 June 2016 (see D.242.37) Document D.292
Robert Sephton's research notes relating to the proposed canal from Bayworth Quarry to Sandford Pool and the supposed search for coal at Bayworth. These papers include photos and maps of the supposed canal route, correspondence with Bob Evans and with Hugh Torrens about the purpose and route of the canal, and notes on Sutton Thomas Wood (who was the prime mover in the project and entered a partnership with Sir George Bowyer, the landowner). The notes were given to Radley History Club by Robert Sephton's family after his death. They cast considerable doubt on the accepted wisdom that the canal was designed primarily to carry coal. There is some overlap between these papers and those at D.83 and D.292, but they have been deliberately kept together as a whole. Document D.333

Radley Village and College 1847-c.1939. Article by Robert Sephton, together with related research notes. The article does not seem to have been published. It includes sections on Radley vicars, Sir Edwin Monk the college precentor, villagers employed by the College, school and college, the railway, sanitation, celebrations, land and the Radley College mission. The related papers include extracts form the diaries of Robert Singleton (1848) and George Wharton (1871-1919). Singleton was one of the College's founders. Wharton was College precentor and for a period curate of Radley's church. The papers were given to Radley History Club by Robert Sephton's family after his death. Document D.334
